The newly formed 'Vancouver Port Welfare Committee' made up of those who have a vested interest in the welfare of seafarers such as Pilots, Transport Canada, the ITF (International Transport Federation),the Mission to Seafarers etc has put together the following guidelines to assist seafarers shore leave at a time when in most countries they are unable to come ashore and relax, to get off and away from the ship esp. when they are spending longer at sea with restricted crew changes around the world due to Covid 19.

The role of the Seafarer Centres often found in the port or nearby has become pivotal in facilitating shore leave.
