Life onboard Ship
There are days when I walk around as if there were a dark cloud overhead and negativity raises its head.
Then there are those moments that interrupt that thinking as if sent to intervene such as recently when I was talking in the Mission minivan with a seafarer as I brought him to downtown Vancouver.
It was a moment in which I realized again that my life is good certainly compared to the much worse situation that the seafarer was dealing with. I could relate somewhat as a parent as the seafarer expressed their concern for the safety of his family in a very volatile situation in his home country.
The seafarer is doing what they can for their family by working onboard at sea to provide for them.
It is one reason why the Mission to Seafarers and its Chaplains and volunteers are there in ports around to the world to listen to the seafarers’ stories and to offer prayerful and practical support.
