June 25th is set aside as the International Day of the Seafarer to think of and give thanks for seafarers. This year the focus was on gender equality at sea which people are encouraged to get onboard with.
At the Mission to Seafarer Centres in Vancouver and Delta Port we hosted a BBQ with all the trimmings as a small way of saying to the seafarers you are appreciated and about 60 of them tucked in to the grub.
Thanks goes to the Mission volunteers as well as Fr Wilmer and the people of our partner church St Michaels Anglican Multi-Cultural.
The challenge to each of us reflected in the banner now hanging at the Waterfront Centre is
How will you thank a seafarer today?
