The Waterfront Seafarers Centre in Vancouver is a beautiful building , a big blue house, built in 1906. The building has a purpose and that is to be ' a home away from home' for seafarers.
Mindful of the age of the building and the age of many seafarers we at the Mission in Vancouver are taking steps to improve our service to them and so in the coming months we are going to paint the interior, replace the flooring on the main floor and get some new comfy furniture.
We don't want it to look like a ship as it has done with pictures and flags etc because that is what seafarers see everyday.
We want it to look but also feel like a relaxing, safe and welcoming place for seafarers.
Please bear with us as this work goes on and when all is done come by and take a look.
